Relationship between technology and society.
Health Messaging.
Anamaya, the Tribal Health Collaborative.
The Collaborative works closely with tribal communities to end preventable deaths across India. Important health messages are communicated in state languages – mostly considered as transactional languages by tribal communities mostly used to avail services. They have complained about the lack of content or key messages that are best understood by them in their primary language. To address this gap, the Collaborative is increasing the production of health messaging and the supporting infrastructure for relevant tribal languages.
Histories of the Internets.
CIS India.
A series of monographs were produced under the CIS-RAW programme that explored the relationship of the growth of internet technologies and their relationship with society in India. The publication’s design embodied the non-traditional reading hierarchies, akin to the experience of reading hyperlinked text. This was achieved by typesetting reference notes in the margins to craft the contours of each page organically.
Reimagining the Bangalore bus map.
Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology.
Before Google Maps and transit apps were ubiquitous, transport companies often struggled to publish updated maps that were deemed useful by commuters. Bangalore’s public bus company was no different. For a bus-reliant Bangalore, route information, spatial orientation, and the logic of route planning was paramount for any commuter to plan their trips. An erstwhile map published by the bus company was reimagined along the lines of London’s spider maps to provide byte-sized route information keeping in mind the information needs of commuters.
